On Becoming Filipina in 10 months...

Islands=27 So now that I'm spending about 10 months in the Philippines, I'll be living the Manila life, reconnecting with my extended family and hopefully learning my Tagalog. I'll also be tallying how many times people ask me if I have a boyfriend and how times they tell me I'm fat. McFattie: 14 McSingle: 22

Yea, i just travelled halfway across the world

So, I left my house at about... 7:30am on Saturday and arrived in Manila at let's say about 12pm Sunday (EST). Can we please give me props for surviving the ordeal of two 4 hour flights and one 14 hour flight on Northwest. Everyone, also please note that Northwest is THE SUCK. If at all possible, patronize someone else because you'll definitely not regret it. I spent 14 hours on an understaffed (7 /11 flight attendants present) and nearly died of dehydration and boredom. Instead of my awesome personal tv screen complete with a selection of movies, games and music, we had one centralized white pull down screen up front with a half-assed fuzzy projector. Not to mention that the food was mediocre and the alcohol WAS NOT FREE. do they really expect us not to get murderous after being on a plane for that long? Have they not seen The Shining?

In any case, I arrived 1am to my hotel room and slept for 4 hours before I instantaneosly woke up to the morning smog of the Manila skyline. We had a short orientation and I gots my money. Now, less than 24 hours of being in the country, and I'm already at the mall.
